Sounds like you got one of those very scarce critters, a GOOD motorcycle battery charge. By the way, if you turn the key all the way to the top of the switch and pull it out, that will kill the battery too. Been there, done that, and as soon as I can, I'm going to replace the stock ignition switch with one that does NOT have a parking light feature. (Briggs and Stratton two cycle utility motor switch, that's what the Maqck Trucks I use at work have, except for mine, still have the stock unit from 1974)
